If you are experiencing symptoms of menstrual cramps, it's important to see your doctor to be properly diagnosed.

Although certain natural remedies show some promise, there hasn't been enough research at this point to conclude they're effective. Here are some of the more popular natural remedies for menstrual cramps.

Magnesium, acupressure, omega-3 fatty acids, low-fat diet, vitamin E, vitamin B1, heat (such as a heat pack, warm bath/shower), aromatherapy, massage, calcium, chiropractic exercise or you could go to the chemist and ask them for something for the pain if none of the above-mentioned helps.

I would recommend that if painful cramps during your period is so bad that it interferes with your daily activities or causes you to miss work/school because of it, that you definitely see your doctor/gynaecologist for further evaluation as painful periods can sometimes be caused by conditions such as endometriosis which can sometimes cause severe pain from an early age (although the pain typically gets worse as the disease does more damage with each monthly cycle). Other causes can include fibroids, pelvic inflammatory disease and sometimes a narrowing of the cervix (using all these conditions as examples only).

Hope this helps. Good luck :)
References :
Personal experience with severe period cramping due to endometriosis.

I take 150 mg per day of magnesium and a week before my period hits, I up the dosage to 300 mg per day until my period is done. I find it really decreases the pain. I have had to go to the hospital a few times because of the pain, but ever since I started taking magnesium, I haven't had to go back. Hope this helps!
References :
personal experience

I dont know about nutrients.. but i know that if you are talking about cramping... if you keep your tummy area warm you wont have much pain.
i suggest you buying some of those heat pads they have at drug stores where you can atach to your undies.. gives off a lot of warmth and keeps your muscles from cramping.. reducing (if not eliminating) your pain.. thats what i use...

best wishes tho
References :
oh and excersizes like sit ups and stuff also help because they losen up your muscles.. not letting them cramp up as much.. reducing the pain

- Vitamin B6 and B12 are supposed to help reduce menstral pain.
- Exercise also helps
- Heat applied to your lower abdomen ( like a hot water bottle)
References :
You may want to try out Synotrex, I have a shellfish allergy too and my uncle recommended it, it has a bunch of other ingredients (MSM, Ginger root, sam-E, willow bark) that help out with pain and sensitivity, you can get it online or at a health food store. I've been using it for about 4 months and its really helped out with my joint pain.
References :
www.synotrex.com
